Heat Exchangers NF Inc. was incorporated in 1992 by Michael Lucking, to develop and market the heat recovery shower (HRS) and the shower smart faucet (Shower Smart Faucet)

These products were recognized and financially supported by the following organizations:

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)
Canada Mortgage and Housing (CMHC)
National Research Council (NRC)
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Dept. of Development and Rural Renewal (DDRR)
Long Range Business Development Center (LRBDC)

In 1995, Heat Exchangers NF Inc. purchased the HRS assets of La Shower Inc. N.Y.

In 1996 the HRS was put on hold (shelved) as the Shower Smart Faucet became the star product.
