 xisting bathtub /shower combination
 n an existing bath/shower combination, the Shower Smart Faucet is installed "in parallel" to the existing shower faucets. This means either the old faucets or new Shower Smart Faucet can be used to shower. The mounting of the Shower Smart Faucet will be inside the wall section with the existing faucets.
t is best to access this area through the back side of the bathtub wall. This is because you will usually just be going through a gypsum wallboard. Make the access hole large enough to work through. Consider the floor joist space under the shower as another possible mounting location. Only as a last resort would you install through the bathtub end wall. In that situation the access hole could be covered up by the shelf unit type, control / display. You will tee into the water line to the showerhead and also tee into the hot and cold lines to the existing faucets. Also, add the check valve to the showerhead tee. Run the 120 vac power cable (supplied) to the nearest junction box and connect with wire nuts. Mount the control / display on the end wall of bathtub above the other faucet handles. The push buttons of the control / display should be mounted at a height of 3'9" up from tub floor for easy use by adults and children. Connect the 5 wire cable from the control / display to the Shower Smart Faucet. Turn the water on, power up and you are ready to shower

n a new installation, the Shower Smart Faucet can be installed as the only faucet unit. Use standard faucets just for the bathtub spout. Install the Shower Smart Faucet at a 4' height inside the end wall of the bathtub. Run a hot and cold water line to the Shower Smart Faucet. Mount the showerhead and run in a line from the Shower Smart Faucet. The check valve is not required if the Shower Smart Faucet is the only shower faucet. Mount the control / display on the end wall of bathtub above the other faucets. The push buttons of the control / display should be mounted at a height of 3'9" up from tub floor for easy use by adults and children. Connect the 5 wire cable from the control / display to the Shower Smart Faucet.
